This timber-framed cottage dates from the seventeenth century and is from the village of Eathorpe. The Greeks used Thyme

(Thymus vulgaris) in their baths and burnt it as incense in their temples, hence the name (from Greek thumon meaning ‘burn, sacrifice’).
